Commercial Shipping – Practical Considerations
Program Overview
This four-module course explores essential aspects of commercial shipping and operations, starting with the fundamentals of bills of lading, including crucial clauses of the contract of carriage and letters of indemnity. The second module examines slow and super-slow speed operations, highlighting their technical and legal implications, speed and consumption warranties, notable underperformance claims and case law, and risk mitigation strategies. It then focuses on the Voyage and Time Charters, emphasizing rights and obligations while discussing seaworthiness, delivery/redelivery, off hire, bunker quantities, quality etc., and the legal implications of contractual breaches.
