Session 1: The Introduction to Contract Law discusses how to form valid and binding contracts, highlighting the significance of clear language and interpretation while cautioning against homemade clauses and recognizing implied terms from national laws and industry standards. The Ship-Management Contract segment explores the Construction of Shipman 2009, focusing on rights and obligations, limits of liability, and the differences between English and US law regarding these limits and indemnity.

Session 2: The Charter Parties section examines the construction of various charter types, including voyage and time charters, and their key differences and implications. It addresses disputes related to underperformance in time charters and laytime in voyage charters. Additionally, it discusses important concepts such as arrived ship, valid notice of readiness (NOR), demurrage, and detention.

Session 3: The Ship Sale & Purchase section discusses the evolution of standard forms, focusing on differences among the 1987, 1993, 2012, and 2022 versions, and covers condition on delivery, including detailed discussion on average damage affecting class. It concludes with an examination of sale and purchase disputes and the relationship between contract performance and market conditions.

Session 4: The Contract of Affreightment (CoA) section details its construction, credit risk management, and mitigation strategies for cargo charterers and ship owners, including cash flow forecasting and voyage delays. The Bareboat Charter contract section compares operating and financial leases, examines key financial elements and changing regulations, and discusses the Barecon contract's focus on asset preservation, ship management, and the impact of new IMO regulations on cost-sharing.
